RAM 1500 Towing Capability
All RAM trucks are available in several trims, bed lengths, and cab styles. The RAM 1500 is available in three engine options – starting with the standard 3.6-liter Pentastar V6. The maximum towing with the V6 engine is 8,110 pounds when configured with a Quad Cab and a 6’4” bed.
The second engine option is a 3.0-liter inline-six Twin Turbo Hurricane engine. With the same bed and cab configuration, this engine can tow up to 11,570 pounds.
The top engine for the RAM 1500 is the same engine, tuned for high output. This engine is not available with a Quad Cab, so the top towing 9,920 pounds in the Limited trim with a Crew Cab and a 6’4” bed.
RAM 2500 Towing Capability
Like the RAM 1500, the RAM 2500 is available with three engines, and they affect the truck’s towing capabilities. The three engines include a 6.4-liter HEMI V8 with 410 horsepower, a 6.7-liter Cummins Turbo Diesel inline-six with 370 horsepower, and the 5.7-liter V* with mild-hybrid assistance.
The top towing engine is the Cummins Turbo Diesel. When properly equipped, it can tow up to 20,000 pounds. This vehicle is available with a Fifth-Wheel/Gooseneck Prep Package with a factory-installed hitch platform. The capable RAM 2500 also has an advanced suspension and a powerfully strong frame for smooth towing. Additional helpful features include the Auto-Level Rear Air Suspension and a Bed Lowering Mode – both make attaching a trailer and towing it easier.
RAM 3500 Towing Capability
The RAM 3500 is the largest truck in the RAM HD lineup, and it tows more than the 1500 and 2500 combined. A RAM 3500 with a High-Output 6.7-liter Cummins Turbo Diesel Inline-6 engine can tow up to 36,610 pounds.
When the RAM 3500 is equipped with the iconic 6.4-liter HEMI V8, it can tow up to 18,150 pounds. The Turbo Diesel engine has a payload capacity of 6,050 pounds, while the V8 can carry up to 7,590 pounds.
